Are You Indiebound?

Let's face it.  Box stores might have better prices, but they don't know diddly about books.  Most order books off a list of "bestsellers" without even glancing at the titles.  They get mass shipments, pop them on their shelves, and only re-order if a computer tells them it's time.  That's fine for them -- they are in the business of selling books.

However, if you want a really good book recommendation, from someone who actually reads the books, shop your local independent bookstore.  The employees at independent bookstores are in the business of loving books and generally have their finger on the pulse of the book industry.  They know what titles are bestsellers because they are well publicized and what titles are bestsellers because they are drop dead amazing.

If you don't have an independent bookstore near you or you simply like the convenience of shopping online, visit Indiebound to find amazing book recommendations through Indie Bestsellers, find an indie bookseller near you, or buy your books online from certain independent bookstores.  You can even purchase E-books from indies!

One of my favorite spots to visit is Indie Next Lists; they are a great place to look for the next big thing.  Got young'uns?  Hit the Kid's Indie Next List. Book group run dry?  No problem.  Check out frequently updated top ten choices for book groups!  Seriously....

...with Indiebound at your fingertips, you'll never run out of good books to read!

PS.  In case you were wondering, this isn't a paid advertisement.  Indiebound doesn't even know I exists.  I just think they are a wonderful organization that is banding together to help save the independent bookstore.  Go Indie!
